- Vision & Mission
......The vision of the De Paul SSSMILE Village is primarily and most importantly the vision of Jesus revealed through His Gospel: "Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me" (Matt 25:40).
.....Its mission is the mission accomplished by Jesus through His works of mercy, but yet to be accomplished through us according to His Word: "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me" (Matt 25:35-36)
...De Paul SSSMILE Village takes care of the least brothers and sisters of Jesus. They are people who are destitute, abandoned and also those who wander in the streets. Among these people there are children, young people and elderly. Most of these people suffer from various illnesses, such as physical handicap, mental retardation, blindness, leprosy, drug addiction. Prostitutes and unwed mothers with their children are yet another category of street people. There are also mental patients and wandering families.
Jesus is God and we are his people who praise and adore Him obeying His commandments. Jesus identifies Himself with the poor and commands that we should serve Him also through the poor. Jesus is the Light of the World. We share His light to become lights of the world. Jesus is Light through love and we, as His lights in the world, love all, especially the poor. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we are His flock. He cares for everyone of His flock, especially the strayed and weak ones. As we are His disciples we follow the footsteps of Jesus and continue that pastoral ministry of Jesus by bringing the strayed and weak ones, especially the poor, even those who wandering in the streets.
This vision has given birth to a movement and organisation called SSSMILE Fellowship, started and founded by Fr. Antony Plackal, VC. De Paul SSSMILE Village is one of the missions in accordance with the vision of SSSMILE Fellowship.
